Angell, James Rowland (1869- ), an American educator, born at Burlington, Vermont", and educated at the University of Michigan, Harvard University and abroad. On completion of his studies, Mr. Angell became instructor in psychology in the University of Minnesota; Later he came to the University of Chicago as assistant professor of psychology. Here he later served as professor, dean and acting president. He has been President o'f the American Psychological Association, Chairman of the National Research Council, President of the Carnegie Corporation, exchange professor at the Sorbonne, Paris. He is a member of the National Academy of Science and of the General Education Board. In 1921 he was elected President of Yale University.
