Galilee

Galilee, the most northern of the three provinces into which Palestine was divided in the days of Christ. It was bounded on the e. by the River Jordan, on the s. by Samaria, on the w. by the Mediterranean and Phoenicia and on the n. by Syria and the Lebanon Mountains. In Galilee were located Nazareth, the boyhood home of Jesus. Cana, where the first miracle was performed. Capernaum, Nain and other places of sacred association. Galilee is now a part of the Province of Syria.
