Garlic
From Encyclopediak
Garlic, a bulb-bearing herb of the Lily Family and closely, allied to the onion and leek. It has an extremely strong odor and taste and is used as a seasoning or, in southern Europe, as a food. The bulb is made up of several smaller bulbs known as cloves and is the source of a bitter drug widely used in medicine as a stimulant, and as a remedy for spasms and indigestion. The garlic is mentioned in the Old Testament Num. xi, 5 as being part of the food furnished to the Israelites while in bondage in Egypt.
