Peloponnesus

Peloponnesus, the ancient name of the peninsula forming the southern part of ancient Greece. It is now called the Morea. The Peloponnesus was divided into six districts Argolis, Laconia, Messenia, Elis, Achaea and Arcadia. Sparta, in Laconia was its most famous city. See Greece, Sparta.
