Gabun, Gah boon, a short river of French Congo in western Africa. So many tributaries unite to form it that it may be more accurately said to be a great estuary by which these enter the ocean. The stream is 40 m. in length and is open to the largest vessels for the entire distance. Its mouth, which is but a short distance north of the equator, has the settlement of Libreville upon its north bank.
